Bead Soup Blog Party First Reveal

Today
is the first reveal date for the 7th Bead Soup Blog Party.

Remember that the one and only lovely Lori Anderson of Pretty Things blog has organized this event for over 500 jewelry designers.

Be sure to come back here next weekend when I get to reveal my  Bead Soup creations from this bead soup.

You can find the list of those in this first reveal here (161 for this reveal).  That's a lot of blogs to check out.  So I need to go now and start blog hopping.

Keep creating,
Carol

Singer Featherweights

Like many quilters, I had heard about and began to covet a Singer Featherweight sewing machine.  They are little, simple to use and so cute!  After checking the prices on Ebay, etc. I decided that one would probably not be in my future.  But, (squeal), I read in the paper about an estate sale put on by a favorite dealer that featured some Featherweight machines.  Now what could it hurt?  I would just go take a look and see one in person. Right?

There were six of them at the sale - four black and two white ones.  Did you even know they were made in black AND white?  I didn't.  The white ones were made in Great Britian.

Only one other person was even looking at the machines.  This was on the last day of the sale and they were marked half price.  The other lady and I plugged them in and made sure they worked and had bobbin cases, etc.  She finally bought one.  I was still hesitant to buy so I left a bid for a much lower price and left.  I thought surely someone would come in and buy them before the day was over and that would be the end of the story.

So on the next 2 days when I didn't receive a call saying I had won the bid, I just thought, "Oh, well.  Nice try."  Thennnnn, SIX days after the sale, I received a call saying they were just getting around to making the calls about the bids and did I still want the Featherweight sewing machine.  Did I???  I couldn't wait for the next day to go pick it up.  When I got there, five machines were still left.  I rechecked the one I wanted and packed it up.  But those white ones were certainly calling my name.

Must be because they were made in Great Britain and my daughter and her husband are currently living in London and she wants to learn to sew a little better and, and, and,..... So two machines came home to live with me.

And since tomorrow is spring, here are the daffodils I have in bloom.  Why doesn't the weather know that spring is here?
